i was texting my gf while being booked for DUI. you get officers of all walks, some are cool and some are dicks. i happened to get some rookies that night.
I was arrested just a couple months ago, and sent and received numerous texts... The cops response to the other officer there as to why he was letting me text is "he has been very cooperative" so... If your not a dick to the cop, the cops won't be dicks to you... Usually.
This just goes to show that people are so caught up in their own lives and only what goes on in their little worlds. Laws and practices are different everywhere. Agreed, stop trying to be know it alls.

Anyways, they say you should have an ICE (In Case of Emergency) number in your phone for the paramedics, cops, or hospital to call if you're passed out or something so that they can notify your next of kin.
some of u obviously have no idea what your talking about.. when i got my second dui the cops had a great time texting my girlfriend all kinds of shit from my phone. and bail could be anything. in maryland your released on your own recognizance after a dui with no bail so whoever is trying to speculate on how much bail really is is talking directly out of their ass

One phone call? Apparently you've never been arrested. At least not in St. Louis county. They have free phones in the holding area that you can use as often as you like if there is nobody waiting to use it
Contrary to popular belief, Johnny Law in Reno; actually really cool. I once went to my arresting officers 'hooray its the weekend' party the day I got out.
I agree on the fake as well. All your personal items are in a bag and he doesn't have a DUI. He ALLEGEDLY has a DUI. BIG difference. I should know, I just got popped a few months ago. Also, the cop couldn't care less if you were bailed out of jail or not. Here, they actual take you to detox until you blow less than a .04% BAC.
Not only SHOULD cops do this to help people, they SHOULD keep a sense of humor. That's the problem with law enforcement, too many dudes have lost touch with being a community officer first, and a criminal officer second.
I don't see why everyone is bitching about saying it's "fake." Cops need to get a hold of someone to bail them out, a lot of people respond to text messages, I can see cops doing this, especially younger ones.
This is technically in violation of your rights, if this ever occurs demand to speak to a commanding officer and a lawyer. This is harassment and defaming if it occurs on a scale such as this or any worse.
