Orally taken drugs takes longer to work because it goes through digestive system to be absorbed to blood stream and reach to brain, and the effect often lasts longer.\n2. if you crush pill/capsule, it breaks its time release form, which makes drug to work a lot faster than it should. So if he put it in his gum, i don't know if entire drug will be in effect but little by little is released from chewing which will make it last longer but not necessarily work faster.
I could be wrong but maybe this was this an accident? And now he is saying it's going to be a long flight bc he he med is in his chewing gum? It might still work a little but I would probably end up throwing it away.
