I don't know where you go to school, but at the Universtiy I go to the library is packed as finals near. I would be pissed if someone is taking up a table watching TV.
Real life for a comm major? Are you serious? There's no such thing, only unpaid internships or to become a professor. No one wants to hire someone who has spent the last four years learning to "communicate".
As a comm major I find this very insulting. With every major people do different levels of work. Have you ever done all of the work most comm majors do? You don't just learn how to communicate so clearly you are very uninformed. Have you ever heard or journalism, production or public relations? There is no need to be putting down someone's major or career choice.
I agree with you 100%. I'm a comm major also. I don't think "my1stbeer" (their name enough makes it questionable) really knows what comm majors do. I have a focus in journalism and it's definitely writing, not just learning to "communicate."
True story. And I actually had an exam in 2/3 comm classes. In my applied journalism class, however, we had to turn in a portfolio of all the stories we'd written this year and that is graded as our final. I think proving we can actually do it is way more efficient than testing our knowledge about it...because obviously if the portfolio is successful, we know what we're doing.
A physics degree doesn't make you superior, a comm degree doesn't make you superior, a math degree doesn't make you superior a fucking law degree doesn't make you superior, no degree makes you superior or inferior..if you beleieve that then you should talk to bill gates, he has no degree yet is one of the richest people in the world
Take a class on Sociology before you make that comment. Functionalism explains that certain degrees and positions are superior. If one is not better than the other, why do we pay some more than others? Why do certain degrees offer better job security? \n\nAlso, Bill Gates is an outlier. His story is extraordinarily rare, which is why it receives so much publicity. Therefore, you can't use his life as proof that having no degree doesn't affect your chances at success in the world.
1206 you say none are superior however, comm is inferior...for comm to be inferior the others would by definition have to be superior..think about how superior you are yet you can't even comment on tfln without contradicting yourself mr superier...btw I'm not a comm major I'm a bio major but I hate when people think their major is superior to others
Well, my physics exam has me solving "real life" problems. So you can stop trying to make yourself look superior with your 'applicable to real life presentations' because other college students can see right through that bs.
hey bigpoppy what kind of real life do you live in physics isnt gonna get you anywhere comm. majors hold a large percent of real life jobs cause we have skills that actually help you get somewhere in life so go back to your lab and shut the fuck up oh and i can tell those real life problems you are referring too have kept you single for awhile
If not for someone with a knowledge of electronics (physics), you wouldn't have a computer with which to shoot your mouth. I can't remember any time I've thought "If it wasn't for a communications major, this wouldn't be possible."\n\nAlso, you'd think a communication major would know how to spell, use punctuation, etc. I learned that in elementary school. I guess that's about the level most communication majors strive for.\n\nNow go get me a refill.
Bluepies, no need to argue with him. He's just upset because of the following statistics:\n\nAverage salary of a Physics major after 10-years: $122,460
Depends on where you go to school... at my school they let you have containers with lids, so I'm guessing as long as you weren't a loud drunk, no one would complain if you had wine in a container with some kind of lid.
Bluepies: agree with you... But comm probably has some relevance in the world... Just unsure of what at the moment. \n\n5:34 AM: that's because Bio is the comm major for science... and although I had the hardest undergrads in science, I had a decent social life, at least until I started my first thesis...
