  • If it's just the screen, you can buy another one on eBay and replace it yourself. It's not hard, you just need some screwdrivers and probably an anti-static strap.

  • If your parents bought the complete care warranty, they never have to know. Just call Dell up and they'll come to your dorm in a day or two to fix it. And if you fix it yourself, you don't need an anti-static strap unless you love wearing wool sweaters and have shag carpet.
