No need to hate on Americans just because we don't know your cocktails... in fact, this drink probably got popular because someone was experimenting, probably drunk, just like this person, and other people probably thought it was weird at the time too. There is decent beer in the US, but it sure as hell isn't from a big company like Budweiser.
Yeah, a shandy is pretty popular in the rest of the world. Any combination of beer and either lemonade, lemon-lime soda, or ginger ale. Maybe if you weren't an amateur drinker, you wouldn't think it was stupid.
I think most americans aren't use to mixing many things with beer. My friend was a transfer student from Belgium and would tell me about all the like beer cocktails.. The most interesting one was definitely beer and some sort of syrup. I'm mexican and love to put a little lime and salt on my corona and she had never even heard of this. It's a cultural thing I guess
To be exact, the original receipt is german considering the area belonged to germany when budweiser was mentioned for the first time. Thatswhy the us company had the german founders amhäuser
Or you could put the sprite in first and pour the beer as you would normally pour a beer into a cup... you were putting the sprite in second, weren't you?
