I think mj007 may have been joking. I hope? And I also hope R_R is joking or simply happened to choose his/her words very poorly. Skin is not "water proof" (sweat, anyone?) however one of its functions is certainly to help regulate fluid loss/intake in the body.
Look up phospholipid bilayers. Made to be water proof but they still actively transport intersticial fluids through the cell wall. There us a hydrophobic and a hydrophelic layer but it has to get fluids in. try per rectum fast, effective and more efficient.
The answer is yes. anything you put on your skin is absorbed throughout your entire body and reaches your major internal organs with in 30 seconds. also, might i suggest the movie Beerfest
Moving a significant amount through the inisticial spaces, and perfusing though the blood stream to major organs would take longer than 30 seconds. Put a shit on your skin, and cover it with tegaderm or a plastic wrap so it cannot evaporate and see what happens.
