Arkansas???? Really???? Wow! I grew up in the great state of AL and never have I heard this. NEVER! Ugh, stop trying to make yourself feel better, razorback. RTR!!!!!!!
Really, insulting a STATE is stupid. Alabama probably would have a hymn at a bar, but so what. You shouldn't worship God when you're at a bar? XD
Alabama sucks, i've lived here for three years. I hate it, but still, no reason to insult a state.
Unfortunately, I've actually seen this happen. I work at a bar in AL that showcases a wide range of bands (rock, pop, country, etc.); one night recently, a little country band played "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" followed by "I'll Fly Away." It was definitely a WTF moment for us.
May 25, 8:56--- I usually don't think of God much when I'm drinking... I usually just think "Dear Jesus, let it stop" when I start throwing up after a heavy night of drinking. Maybe I should change my tactics ;-)
ha ha!!! totally live in tuscaloosa annnnd definitely heard ill fly away in rhythm and brews once.. it was from a band. cant remember which one.... and for whoever doesn't know where temmerson is, it is in the same strip as rhythm. doesn't surprise me. u wouldn't hear it at jupiter or the legacy though...RMFT!
I'm from alabama but I have to agree with 6:01. say something other than roll tide. it's not a very solid defense..considering the fact alabamas only beaten auburn once in the last couple of years. in all honesty this state sucks and there are more than a hand full of rednecks. but this little dispute between Arkansas and Alabama shows ignorance and stupidity. both states suck. face the truth, deal with it, and argue about something worth listening to. this is pathetic on both ends.
I've heard "I'll Fly Away" and "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" several times in bars in different places... Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Birmingham and Orange Beach... It's always played by some cover band, and only by request. I don't think it's something they keep on the set list.
2:49 AM and 12:13 AM- FU.
I have NEVER heard a hymn played in a bar anywhere, and I've lived in Alabama all my life. As was said earlier, it was probably a country song where the artist ripped off a scripture or hymn. They do it all the damn time.
Arkansas guy is just jealous he's not from Bama. RTR
I've lived in Alabama for thirteen years and have yet to witness this. And anyway, you're from Arkansas. There's got to be some ridiculous nonsense going on at the bars over there.
WOO PIG SOOIE!!!!!!!! Don't hate on the razorbacks. Every year on the way to Florida, I look for the titty bar next door to the baptist church in Wilmer, AL.
we dont marry our cousins and "pa" doesnt go hunt a deer for dinner for "ma" to cook and we dont ride around in wagons and shit. we have drunk rednecks just like every other state lol:) oh war damn eagle
