Awesome parents. @polacke: not necessarily, in high school it was my mom who offered to buy me condoms. but she was cool like that, and my dad wasn't. Also--remember, I'm old--when I was in high school the condoms were still kept behind the drugstore counter and the drugstore only sold one brand. I would've been too embarrassed to ask for them.

hahaha I'm 46. It was in the mid-80s that condoms moved out from behind the counter to the aisles in most drugstores, largely as a consequence of people using them to prevent HIV transmission. Before that, people mostly worried about pregnancy, and women who had lots of sex tended to use BC pills, IUDs, diaphragms, etc. STD prevention wasn't that much of a worry; if you got the clap, a doctor could clear that right up with antibiotics.

Yes they do. I've bought them there. They're right next to the pregnancy tests. (Now, who would need to be buying a Costco-sized pack of *pregnancy tests*, I wonder?)
