  • who the fuck gets on tfln to argue, no one can just laugh and move one.

  • Yes, and 9:55's point is clearly saying that it should be called the United States, NOT America, since in actuality 'America' is covers two continents and does not egocentrically mean just our country.

  • ( . )( . ) boobies! And from a Californian's perspective... America refers to north and south America, I agree united statesian or whatever is PC, who really cares though...

  • American just rolls off the tongue better than united statesian... Calling ourselves American is egocentric, but all of the other countries have better names to call their residents... United statesian just sounds dumb

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 20, 09 at 10:53am
  • Sounds like the dumbest argument ever...totally pointless as both are acceptable and widely used. 2:08, I was gonna say, sounds like an argument drunk people have...HA! Will make for a good story though and endless amounts of teasing. "Remember that night you were so drunk that you argued about whether our country was America or the United States?" awesome

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 3:06pm
  • being the only Country on the 2 Continents with America in the name makes it kind of self explanitory dont you think???

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 10:37am
  • Everyone should know by now, in 2009, that everyone OUTSIDE of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA refer to the RESIDENTS of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA as AMERICANS. Love the term douchnozzle btw...

  • 10:44 - WRONG! - Canada is 9,093,507 SQ KM while, U.S. is 9,161,923. You're obviously a fucking moron

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 3:18pm
  • June 19, 2009 10:44AM Right, Canada is bigger geographically. However, the U.S. kicks all ass.

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 21, 09 at 11:13am
  • Proper name is United States of America. However an accepted and widely used around the world is America in every literary and popular fasion. No one referes to Canada or Medixo or Brazil as America, because they don't dominate a single continent the way the U.S. does at so many levels, including geographical size. Also, PENIS.

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 10:42am
  • Its called United States of America, NOT just America. There's many other countries in this continent.

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 9:41pm
  • the other america's don't count. there's only one real one.

  • I am the person who posted this text, and I would just like to say that I thought it was a silly argument last night when I was fucked, and now that I'm sober ..... it's a little ridiculous. But thank you to 11:48 "Your mom sucked my egocentric" ... I laughed out out.

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 2:08pm
  • I don't really think it's fair to call us "egocentric" for referring to ourselves as Americans. Doesn't the entire world refer to us as Americans? Or do they call us "United Statesians of America?" Or just "United Statesians?" And clearly this text is meant to be funny, and the participants of this argument are most likely drunk or otherwise inhibited from having an intelligent conversation. Because it's very obvious that "United Statesians of America" live in both America and the United States.

  • This is like the funniest mother fucking conversation ever... But isn't it not necessarily called just United States because that doesn't include the other states in America that aren't United... Yadidamean? Like, I guess the United States of America doesn't include the other states not United IDK IM HIGH FUCK IT.

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 20, 09 at 5:14am
  • definately should be called united states. it IS egocentric to think of yourselves as "america", maybe you can say americans just because there is no other word, but the united states definately CANNOT be called america

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 12:49pm
  • 10:42 must've learnt new words that they wanted to use today! "Geographical size", at least master geography before you're going to try and sound smart about it, Canada is the second largest country in the world. And hell, I'd say it's better than the States in a lot of ways, not just size.

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 11:42am
  • In Spain "America" generally refers to South America as obviously there is more of a connection. They actually do call people from the US "estadounidense" i.e. United Statesian". I like their way of thinking! 11.47 - Crawl back into your hole. Idiots like you are what gives your country its bad name.

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 9:55am
  • Last time I checked, Canada was bigger. im no geographer, though, and I'm not about to start a fight over it hahhaha But you may be right, if you claim ALL THE GREAT LAKES as USA's and put into account all the territories and other 'US States' accross the world I'm not sure anymore. does that count IRAQ too? I mean, you spend more money fixing that sh*t whole than you do at home

  • I just refer to it as "the States"....as in, "I'm glad tI'm flying back to the States on Tuesday". Does NO one else say this?

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 20, 09 at 8:31pm
  • 9:55 can you read??? it says in the text they were fighting over whether it was called the United States or America.....this would lead the average person to utilize context clues to figure out which of the 3 America's they were talking about.

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 9:56am
  • 10:44 Not population wise or influence wise, though. I'm living in Europe now and in every country that I've visited, America is recognized as referring to the United States of America, though that is not TECHNICALLY correct. It is what it is.

Submitted by Anonymous on Jun 19, 09 at 10:53am
  • 10:42, yeah. except Canada's bigger than the USA, douchnozzle
