I have nothing against Donnie Darko, but a group of guys I knew loved it and tried to act like they were intelligent and deep because that and Fight Club were on their top ten. The movies aren't bad, but a lot of people use them to pretend they're somehow better than other people even when they can't explain the point of the movie or what it's about. So I agree with this text.
Donnie Darko is my favorite movie. Please explain why you feel that way? I bet your favorite movie is Beer Fest or something that invovles no brain cells or intellect to watch.

Personally I just like movies that make you stop and recollect the plot to try to figure out exactly what happened. I like movies that are open to interpretation. Fight Club, Revolver, and yeah, Donnie Darko, are among my favorite movies. Doesn't mean I'm a fucking Hipster. Bad TFLN is bad.
donnie darko is a good movie but 12:12 ther'es no thinking involved in this one. more importantly however, people how say this is their FAVORITE movie have issues.
i think the point this person was trying to get across is that he thinks people whose favorite movie is donnie darko are condescending and not as deep/smart as they think they are. but by saying this, he just makes himself another one of them.

Idk I think people that don't like it are the people that like Dane cook or listen to pop music. I think it's in my top ten cuz it tells about life and stuff but it doesn't beat fight club, into the wild, eternal sunshine, or watchmen.

Also, a lot of people whose favorite movie is Donnie Darko are incredibly pretentious and fancy themselves deep and tortured.
That being said, it's just a generalization that people make, which does not apply to all.
It's a good movie because it's Bubble Boy having hallucinations of a fucking rabbit. Get over it, you think everyone who likes it is pretentious and you're actually acting pretty pretentious because you don't like it. all in all, stop watching high school musical every day and stop making fun of movies that weren't invented for the disney nation.
