So, wouldn't it make sense that you would have a higher total amount of medals? However, when we have a higher percentage of GOLD medals than you, what does that tell you?
Ahem, short answer: no. Higher population does not mean that we have more people competing in the Olympics. Its not like Each country sends over a certain percentage of its population. Also, it takes a lot of funding to go to the Olympics, so it would be financially irresponsible to just send every person we had that knew how to ski, for example.
i'll just put this out there about the ideological difference when it comes to health care. a long time ago Canadians made the decision that someone's income shouldn't preclude them from health care. it may seem socialist, but to the majority of developed countries it's about fairness to all its citizens. I do agree that wait times suck when we live in a generally "first come first serve" world, but people's placements on wait lists generally follows the principle of triage

The something that "ain't right" is your basic understanding of population. The US has ten times the population of Canada so it would make sense that the US does way more organ transplants.
In addition to Greggles' comment you may want to also consider the basic health of the citizens. That being a lessened necessity for Canadians to receive transplants vs. the increasingly poor health of the American population.
